Former Red Bull driver and current Williams driver Alexander Albon has

just extended his contract with the team for 2023 and beyond. The Thai-Brit driver confirmed the news in a witty tweet, stating that Williams had put out a press release regarding his contract extension, which was right and that he would be driving for Williams next season.

Albon has had a great season so far, scoring all of the team’s three points, and outperforming his Williams car on more than one occasion, in qualifying as well as the race. His performance in the Australian Grand Prix will be remembered for his tyre management: he did 57 laps on a set of hard tyres, before he pitted on the last lap for soft tyres to fulfil the two different tyre compounds rule. He also finished 10th place, giving him one point.

With Williams looking to move up the grid from here on, signing Albon for multiple seasons is a big step forward, and the team has put much faith in him to bring more great results in the future. It will be interesting to witness how Albon performs in the Williams in the upcoming seasons.

Multi year deal is great news for Albon - if he can shape the team around him long term as Russell was starting to do more and more, I think Alex could go really well and if the new owners pump in some cash to modernise the team, quicken up its R&D to production time then its going in the right direction. To sign a multi year deal suspect Alex has some detail on this that gives him confidence.
