Aston Martin revealed their 2022 Challenger, the AMR22, on Thursday, the third of the teams to reveal their livery for the upcoming season. This also happened to be the first livery reveal on a team's official 2022 car, not placed on a show car.
The car sticks with its British Racing green base colour, but in contrast to the pink highlights that were included in the 2021 car, it now features striking bright green streaks running down the side of the whole vehicle, giving it a very sleek look.
In hopes of some consistency despite the vastly different cars, Aston Martin has maintained both Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll on their books - a seemingly diverse and well-suited driver pairing with the vast experience of the 4-times world champion and the drive and power of the young Canadian expected to perform well together.
Sebastian Vettel had a lot to be proud of in 2021, joining a new team and appearing to settle in well with a podium result in Baku and an unfortunate miss in Hungary serving as the highlights, yet he will still be hoping for more this season, as too will Lance Stroll who was very much outshone by Vettel last year.
In terms of car design, the obvious change from the FIA show car is the gills along the side of the side-pod, placed much further forward than that of the show cars. Furthermore, the front wing is less rounded and protrudes further forward than we have previously seen.
Many F1 fans will see this as the best livery so far this season, and it will be exciting to see how this new car performs on track!
