Chaos was the main character at the start of the Hungarian Grand Prix with Bottas locking up, taking out Lando Norris and Sergio Perez out of the race as well as crashing into Verstappen. In the same lap and corner, Lance Stroll made a similar move, crashing into Leclerc, who in turn tapped Daniel Ricciardo’s McLaren, sending him spinning.
The FIA decided to hand out a five place grid penalty and two penalty points on their superlicense for both drivers. The grid penalties will be served three weeks later in the Belgium Grand Prix, which will take place after the F1 summer break.
Valteri Bottas now has four penalty points on his superlicense this year while Lance Stroll has a total of six points.
