Scuderia Ferrari has officially announced Carlos Sainz's contract renewal, which will link him to the team until the end of the 2024 season. Despite recent rumours suggesting the negotiations had stalled, as the Spaniard wanted a two-year contract while the team offered him one year with an option to extend it for another one, Sainz will stay in red until 2024, just like his teammate, Charles Leclerc.
The 27-year-old is currently in third place in the drivers’ championship, with two podiums in the first two races and a retirement in Australia. Despite the gap in the standings against Leclerc, he will certainly hope to turn his fortunes around in Imola and challenge his teammate as he did last year. Having finally extended his contract, a confidence boost might be in store for him as he hopes to take his first Formula 1 victory.
What do you think of this announcement? Is it the right decision for both Ferrari and Sainz? Let us know your opinion in the comments below!
