The World Anti-doping Association (WADA) have confirmed that Haas F1 team will be allowed to run the 2021 season with their original livery.

On the 4th of March 2021, Haas unveiled an immediately controversial car with a livery sporting the colours from the Russian flag. The previous month, the Court of Arbitration for Sport had banned the use of this flag in sporting events due to doping incidents. But with Haas’ new sponsor UralKali along with their new signing, the Russian Nikita Mazepin, the car clearly sports very Russian colours.

The Haas car appears to be a very bare car, with not many sponsors ardourning the side of the American team. This has led the designer to create a livery which fills up as much space as possible with that white, blue and red of the Russian flag.

Team principal Guenther Steiner has since denied any allegations that the livery was designed as a way to get Mazepin around the rules surrounding the flag. “We didn’t circumvent anything,” the Italian said, “We came up with this livery last year before all this came out from WADA about the Russian flag.”

Haas now need to focus on getting that VF-21 up to the spec it needs to be at for the first race in Bahrain on the 28th.
