Daniil Kvyat joins the World Endurance Championship for 2022

Daniil Kvyat will be racing in the World Endurance Championship in the highly competitive LMP2 class for the 2022 season. The Russian, who drove for Red Bull and Toro Rosso/Alpha Tauri between 2014 and 2020, will be racing for G-Drive Racing, a Russian team currently ran by Algarve Pro Racing from Portugal, and he will be joined by former F2/GP2 driver René Binder and experienced LMP2 driver James Allen.

This move was discovered earlier after a reddit user by the name of u/PumpkinPlayz revealed that the official WEC website contained a driver profile page for Kvyat listing him as part of the G-Drive team.

Daniil is far from the only recent F1 driver competing in the championship, with other drivers such as Robert Kubica, Kevin Magnussen and Esteban Gutierrez all joining the series this year alongside the many other former F1 drivers already competing over the past few years. With the oncoming wave of new manufacturers in the Hypercar top class there’s a good chance many of them will soon find themselves in the fight for overall wins at the championship’s flagship round: the prestigious 24 hours of Le Mans.
