Day two of three testing outings for Formula One is now complete.

Let’s recap what happened today on the track.

Day two concludes in Sakhir, with Carlos Sainz as the day’s pace-setter with a 1:29.348 lap time. The Spaniard has now set 126 laps in total over both days of testing so far, but the session was far from perfect as he had a spin during his run.

Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton followed Sainz in second place, with the Briton taking the top spot originally during the morning session.

Hamilton’s teammate Charles Leclerc followed him in third place, having an incident with light rain earlier in the morning session. He was followed by the Mercedes duo of Goerge Russell and Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who set roughly similar fastest times.

The rest of the top 10 was filled out by Lance Stroll, Liam Lawson (who suffered a water issue in the RB21, limiting his track time), Jack Doohan, then fellow teammate Pierre Gasly and Isack Hadjar.

This was followed by the Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso, Hadjar’s teammate Yuki Tsunoda, McLaren duo Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. Kick Sauber duo Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hülkenberg in P15 and P16.

The bottom two was the American team Haas’s duo Oliver Bearman and Esteban Ocon down in 17th and 18th, as they focused on their own testing program.

The lineups for both the morning session and afternoon session were mostly different, with only Red Bull and Williams retaining the same order for their drivers.

Some drivers were quick to leave the pit lane, Sainz and (a little later), Norris was quick to exit the pit lane during the day, and the session was mostly undisturbed by the weather.

However, it was notably hit by rain, a rare occurrence in Bahrain - which shook up the running of the day slightly. Ocon was the main driver to capitalise on the strange conditions for Haas (Haas and Aston Martin are the only teams to bring wet allocation tyres to testing).

As with every session, today ended with a practice grid lineup and formation lap for Formula One’s governing body, the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile).

Day three of testing begins tomorrow at 7am GMT.
