DAMS have been a consistent force at the top-end of the F2 championship since its inaugural season in 2017. Finishing 3rd in the championship in 2017 and 2018, and winning the championship in 2019. With these strong results, DAMS clearly understands how to put together an F2 season.
DAMS have also fielded two F1 drivers over the last four years, Alexander Albon and Nicholas Latifi, showing their ability to develop talent.
“I’m thrilled to be part of such a highly respected team as DAMS,” Nissany said in his press statement, “They have an amazing history at this level and a strong reputation in Formula 2, so I’m excited to be joining”.
Nissany also took the opportunity to outline his ambitions for the upcoming season, “Hopefully we’ll be fighting at the front of the field. I believe we have a very exciting journey ahead so I’m keen to start.”
2020 was not a brilliant season for Nissany, scoring on only two occasions – 8th at Belgium and 10th in Austria. He finished the championship in 19th with 5 points. Comparatively, his new team mate Armstrong scored 52 points and 2 podiums whilst driving for ART.
DAMS co-owners Gregory and Olivier Driot expressed their delight with the new signing, “We are really looking forward to starting this new campaign with Roy and helping him deliver the strong results he deserves.”
The 2021 F2 season will begin on the 26-28th March at the Bahrain International Circuit, once again running in support of F1.
