20-year-old Spaniard Javier Sagrera is one of the best drivers in the karting scene, achieving amazing results across categories. He began karting in 2015, aged 11. Sagrera moved to the cadet category the following year, and began testing for various championships, earning wins and podiums in various other races such as Rotax races.

In 2017 he placed second in the Spanish Championship and began his international journey by taking part in the Winter Cup, WSK and many more.

In 2019 he made his debut in Formula 4 with MOL Racing and finished eighth. He took part in the GB3 Championships with Elite Motorsport and Carlin respectively scoring consistently well. He did take part in other championships but it wasn't until this year when he won the Eurocup-3 title along with MP Motorsport.

Sagrera is set to drive for AIX racing in the FIA Formula 3 2025 Championship.

“I am really happy to be joining AIX Racing for the 2025 season. I couldn’t be more excited and motivated to see what comes ahead next year. And I am for sure more than confident that, together with the team," Sagrera said.

"We can put on a big challenge and we are going to make sure to work as much as we can this winter to do so. I believe in every single individual of this team and I am just really grateful and excited for this opportunity."

Théophile Naël joins Van Amersfoort Racing for 2025 F3 Championship

While Naël started his karting career in 2017, aged ten, he took part in Rotax Max Challenge to gain footing and experience in the sport. In 2018 he won the French Championship as well as the National Series Karting, before being crowned champion in the IAME series France.

The 17-year-old started later that most, but gained immediate traction and entered single seater racing nearly two years ago. He took part in the Formula 4 UAE and Spanish Championship but it wasn't until 2023 when Naël won the F4 Spanish Championship in his second season, all these milestones with Saintéloc Racing.

He then went on to participate in the Formula Regional Middle East and European Championship as well as the Macau Grand Prix in 2024, with Saintéloc Racing placing consistently in the three.

He is now set to drive in F3 next year and is the first driver signed on VAR's roster for 2025.

“I am delighted to join Van Amersfoort racing for the F3 season in 2025. This new adventure fills me with ambition. I can’t wait to take on this challenge with the new F3 car. It’s an honor to work alongside such a talented and historic team. Together, we will give our best on track and aim for great results!”

MP Motorsport recently announced French youngster Alessandro Giusti to round out their 2025 driver line-up. Giusti, a Williams junior driver, joins Red Bull junior Tim Tramnitz and fellow rookie Bruno Del Pino at the Dutch outfit for 2025.

Giusti has climbed the racing ranks in the past two years. He raced in the Formula Regional European Championship (FRECA) in 2024, finishing fourth for ART Grand Prix, a season consisting of victories in Paul Ricard and Imola.

The 18-year-old also boasts a stellar junior record, never finishing lower than sixth in a single-seater campaign so far. Giusti first stepped up to single-seaters in French F4 in 2021, finishing fourth overall. He then won his sophomore French F4 campaign in 2022, before stepping up to FRECA the following year.

Ahead of his second FRECA campaign this year, the man from Bièvres became a Williams junior driver, joining several big names such as Indy NXT racer Jamie Chadwick, Formula One racer Franco Colapinto, Formula 2 racers Zak O’Sullivan and Luke Browning, and F1 Academy racer Lia Block.

An excited Giusti expressed his excitement stepping up to Formula 3 for MP Motorsport for 2025, and was quoted saying:

“I’m excited to step up to Formula 3 with MP Motorsport. Our first tests together at Jérez and Barcelona were highly promising which is a good sign for my rookie season in the category.

"It’s my aim to know the team better as we head into the coming season, especially with the new F3-2025 car. I can’t wait to make my F3 debut at Melbourne in March!”

Giusti will certainly be one to watch for when the F3 season begins in Melbourne next March.

Joshua Dufek moves to Hitech Pulse-Eight for 2025

Another team completing their line-up for 2025 is Hitech Pulse-Eight. The British marque has signed Austrian racer Joshua Dufek for their upcoming campaign. Dufek will be joining forces with McLaren junior Martinius Stenshorne and Chinese racer Gerrard Xie.

This will be Dufek’s second Formula 3 season, having driven for AIX Racing in his maiden Formula 3 season in 2024. Dufek endured a difficult transition to Formula 3 from his FRECA and Euroformula Open outings in 2023, only finishing 28th in the standings.

Dufek qualified sixth earlier in Hungary, but his joy was short-lived, as he was disqualified for his car being below the minimum weight requirement.

He was promoted into the points in the season finale at Monza after championship contender Gabriele Minì was disqualified post-race.

There’s no doubt he would be delighted to join Hitech Pulse-Eight, who displayed a significantly better turn of form in 2024, finishing fifth in the standings. The team took three wins in 2024, with Luke Browning taking two and Stenshorne one.

“Moving up to my second full season of F3 with Hitech is a fantastic next step in my career,” Dufek expressed. “The team is really strong, and we’ve seen this year that they were always in the fight for the title,” he continued, speaking of the team’s form in 2024.

I think it will be the perfect environment for me to build on my 2024 experience and achieve some good results. I’m really excited about this opportunity and I’m looking forward to getting to work with the team and with a brand-new generation of F3 cars,” he continued, expressing his desire to work with the Silverstone-based squad.

Joining forces with luggage brand ‘Away’, Scotland’s Logan Hannah will partner PREMA Racing as the final wildcard driver of the season.

The 23-year-old began her racing career in the Sodi World Series, before making the switch to single-seaters in 2017. Not only is she the first female to ever compete in F4 UAE, but also a GB4 race winner. Hannah has also raced in the European Ligier series and GT Cup.

Driving the #54 car, Hannah will formulate PREMA’s fourth entry. Though, she will be no stranger to the setup — having participated in F1 Academy’s mid-season testing, it shouldn’t take her too long to get upto speed.

Speaking out on the announcement, Hannah said: “This is an incredible opportunity for me to race on an unparalleled platform. As someone who loves to travel and experience new places, it’s amazing to be supported by a brand like Away that not only celebrates exploration but is also dedicated to empowering women.”

“I’m excited to take on this challenge in Abu Dhabi, where I grew up karting and my career began,” she said ahead of her series debut. “Knowing I’m part of a mission to help create opportunities for the next generation of women in motorsport.”

We won’t have to wait long to see how Logan Hannah gets on, she’ll be hitting the track as soon as this Friday!

Nina Gademan to receive backing from Alpine in 2025

After an impressive wildcard debut in Zandvoort, Nina Gademan will join the grid full-time in 2025 to represent Alpine.

21-year-old Gademan made her single-seater debut only this year, having previously won the FIA Motorsport Games Karting Slalom Cup. The Dutch driver has been racing in the competitive British F4 series, scoring her first rookie podium at Thruxton.

In reaction to the announcement, Gademan commented:

“I am incredibly proud to be representing BWT Alpine Formula One Team in the 2025 F1 ACADEMY season. This is a moment I once thought might never come, and it is a dream come true. Having the support of a team with such an incredible legacy means the world to me. I am deeply grateful for Alpine’s trust and belief in me.”

Alpine Team Principal Oliver Oakes also took the time to congratulate Gademan: “We are happy to have Nina coming on board as our F1 ACADEMY driver selection for the 2025 season. It was great to see her step up into single seaters at the start of 2024 and to claim points on her F1 ACADEMY debut as the Wild Card in Zandvoort.”

“Nina will be a fantastic addition to our line-up of junior drivers, and we look forward to working with her throughout 2025.”

Max Esterson sticks with Trident for Formula 2 rookie season in 2025

Having made his Formula 2 debut with Trident last time out in Qatar, Max Esterson is set to continue with the team for his rookie season in the series, becoming their first confirmed signing of 2025.

Having started his motorsports journey in iRacing, Esterson made his single-seater debut in 2020, taking part in various series including GB3 where he finished seventh in 2022. The 22-year-old driver most recently competed in Formula Three earlier this year, finishing 21st in the standings with a highest finish of sixth place.

Esterson then stepped up to Formula 2, completing the final two races of the 2024 season with Trident in place of the departing Richard Verschoor.

Speaking after the announcement, Esterson shared: “I’m excited to be able to compete in the FIA Formula 2 Championship with Trident Motorsport. Participating in the Lusail race last weekend and in the Abu Dhabi finale will prove very useful: I think I have already understood some aspects of the category.

“A big thank you to the team, my fans and the family for all they have done that allowed me to be where I am today!”

Oliver Goethe steps up to Formula 2 full-time in 2025

Oliver Goethe is set to take on a full-time drive at MP Motorsport for the 2025 Formula 2 season alongside Richard Verschoor. Goethe completed a successful Formula 3 campaign over the course of 2024, claiming a sprint-race victory and finishing seventh overall, despite not competing in the final round at Monza.

Goethe’s absence was the result of his early call-up to Formula 2 with the Dutch team, filling the seat of Franco Colapinto who made his F1 debut that same weekend. After a scoreless run of weekends, the German delivered his first points-finish in Qatar, claiming fourth place.

Such experience gives Goethe the upper-hand heading into the 2025 season, having additional time to adapt to the Formula 2 machinery compared to those stepping into the car for the first time.

Furthermore, Goethe’s resume includes a dominant Euroformula Open campaign in 2022, claiming 11 race wins on the way to being crowned champion.

His induction into the prestigious Red Bull Junior Team came in 2023, where he now dons the blue, red, and yellow overalls alongside the likes of Arvid Lindblad and Isack Hadjar.

Such support allows the 20 year-old to hone his craft and possibly follow in the footsteps of the alumni who have gone on to race in Formula 1.
