FIA F2 and F3 set to race at Madrid from 2026

In recent news, Madrid will now welcome the FIA feeder series; Formula 2 and Formula 3 and allow junior drivers to get a taste of the streets of Madrid, while enriching the fan experience and thrill of the Grand Prix.

The agreement was signed by F2 and F3 CEO Bruno Michel, José Vicente de los Mozos, President of the Executive Committee of IFEMA MADRID, Daniel Martínez, Executive Vice-President of IFEMA MADRID and Luis García Abad, General Director of F1 IFEMA Madrid, entailing a ten year long contract for Formula 2 and Formula 3 to race on the same weekend as Formula 1.


The Spanish Grand Prix is set to take place in the newly built IFEMA Madrid Circuit from 2026, and fans will now also be able to see the future of Formula 1 race at the same venue.


The FIA Formula 2 and Formula 3, are the levels a driver must go through before reaching the ultimate goal, Formula 1. They have played an integral role in the journeys of drivers ranging from Charles Leclerc to Franco Colapinto — all of whom have graduated from F2 to their dream Formula 1 teams.


To be able to race at a new circuit and get used to the track is something the junior drivers yearn for, and this decision is clearly in favour of that.

“I am extremely happy to bring F2 and F3 to Madrid, at this exciting new venue. It’s

important that the young drivers in both our championships get to race on as many F1 tracks as possible.


"With the addition of Madrid to the Formula 1 calendar, it was logical that F2 and F3 would follow suit. I am really looking forward to our cars providing the spectators with some thrilling racing.” said Bruno Michel, CEO of the two championship series.


Bruno Michel has always worked to ensure that the junior drivers get a taste of the sport whenever and wherever possible. The series has nurtured some of the top drivers in this years Formula 1 grid.


Multiple drivers such as Kimi Antonelli, Ollie Bearman and Gabriel Bortoleto are also set to drive in the upcoming Formula 1 season — showing the success of the feeder series.

The IFEMA MADRID Circuit was announced to be the new host of the Spanish Grand Prix from 2026, in early 2024. The track has been ideated by Jarno Zaffelli, and will welcome many a fans of Formula 1 and now Formula 2 and Formula 3 as well.


This agreement underscores the commitment of the Spanish GP organisers to deliver an unparalleled sporting, entertainment and diverse experience for all motorsport fans.


2026 is truly a year to look forward to from all aspects.
