Formula E have today revealed a record 17-race 2025 calendar, which among returning favourites, includes a brand new race at Miami, amidst a double header at Monaco.
The 17-race calendar will kick off at Sao Paulo on 7th December, an earlier return to the Anhembi Sambadrome this time, before the Christmas break precedes the Mexico City E Prix on January 11th, the first race in 2025.
A new circuit at Diriyah is set to host the Saudi Arabian double-header in February too. Other changes to the calendar include a double-header at Monaco, a popular venue for Formula E in recent times, with plenty of overtaking during the races.
The Italian round of the Formula E season has been dropped, after criticisms over the Misano E Prix have restricted the track to only one race weekend in 2024. With Rome too narrow for the Gen3 Formula E cars, organisers have been forced to do away with the round altogether, unable to find an alternative.
Indonesia’s capital city Jakarta returns to the calendar after a hiatus in 2024, induced by the general elections taking place in the city at the time of hosting the race. This time, it’s only a single race for the city, down from two in 2023.
Other changes to the calendar include the Japanese capital city of Tokyo converted into a double header in May, while the traditional Berlin double-header is shifted towards the end of the season, in mid-July, to become the penultimate weekend of the season. With the Berlin weekend once again clashing with the World Endurance Championship, expect stand-in appearances from reserve drivers for the double header.
However, the biggest change to the calendar is the Miami Homestead hosting the series in April, as Formula E moves to its fifth stateside venue in ten years, with Miami taking over from Portland on the calendar.
Rumours had been floating around the Formula E paddock that representatives from the series had met with NASCAR to negotiate a deal to run a round of the all-electric series at one of their race tracks.
Homestead-Miami is wholly owned by the NASCAR corporation and was chosen as a good location for Formula E due to its proximity to a metropolitan area, giving Formula E access to a large new market. The series will run on a configuration of the roval layout at the Florida circuit, with modifications to better suit the open-wheeled cars.
Homestead-Miami has previously hosted IndyCar between 1996 and 2010, and has hosted NASCAR racing continuously since 1995 with the Truck Series, with the Cup Series first arriving at the speedway in 2002.
It also hosted the NASCAR season finale for its top three series between 2002 and 2019. These races were run on the 1.5 mile oval configuration, which Formula E will not use.
A spot on the calendar has also not been decided on yet, but strong inklings hint at the city of Chiang Mai, Thailand hosting a race in March. Renders of the street circuit have gone viral, despite no announcement just yet.

The new and improved calendar offers a perfect blend of circuits for drivers to push their upgraded cars to the limit, while staying true to our street racing DNA and the on-track action it produces.”
Alberto Longo, Co-Founder & Chief Championship Officer, Formula E, was excited to return to Tokyo and Jakarta, saying:
“We’re thrilled to offer a calendar with some fresh new highlights while building on our legacy locations. Returning to Miami gives us a home in one of the US’s most iconic and sports-mad cities, while securing a double-header in Monaco is a dream come true.
With a number of tweaks and changes, along with new circuits dotting the calendar, the 2025 Formula E season is set to be an engrossing one, with the Gen3 Evo car set to take over for the final two seasons of the current generation of race cars in the series.
