Earlier this afternoon, it was announced that Elite Motorsport GB3 driver McKenzy Cresswell will make his FIA Formula 3 debut for PHM Racing by Charouz at Spielberg, and also take the wheel in the following round at Silverstone. The Brit will drive the #31 car in Spielberg and Silverstone, in replacement of Pole Piotr Wiśincki, whose reasons for replacement remain unknown as of now.

Thus far, Cresswell has been a standout driver in this year’s GB3 Championship, having taken three podiums and sitting seventh in the standings, despite the highly stacked field. He sits ahead of teammates Ayota Iwasaki and Oliver Stewart in the standings, both sitting P16 and P19 in the championship respectively.

He will make his debut this weekend at Spielberg on June 30 - July 1.

An elated Cresswell commented on the situation:

“It’s been a whirlwind few days, having learned of this opportunity at the end of last week,” Cresswell said, on his F3 chance.

“Big thanks to [sporting director] Roland Rehfeld at PHM and Tony Shaw, my GB3 engineer, for making this happen. I will try my best to adapt quickly and get the best results possible.

“The Red Bull Ring will be an exciting challenge. It’s a new car and new circuit for me. The following weekend we will be back on home turf alongside the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.”
