Horner: Alex instrumental in Monaco win

After the crucial win that took them to the top step of the podium and the provisional standings on the championship, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner, took his time to commend the efforts of reserve and sim driver, Alex Albon, who the boss said: “has been putting in the work on the sim.”

The boss wrote about the Thai-British driver’s help on making the car as good as it was in the Principality last week in a column on the official Red Bull Racing website, stating that the team “were not in great shape on Thursday” [Free Practice] and that “Max was not particularly happy with the car.”

The team made some changes according to Albon’s inputs and although Max was obviously gutted to miss out on a shot for pole, the Dutchman and his Mexican teammate were “a lot happier with the car” than they were in Free Practice 1.

Horner also emphasized the importance of Sergio Perez in the fight for the championship, and stated that “Sergio will play a key role in this championship and it is important that we have him driving as he did on Sunday.” The Mexican finished 4th, just missing out on the podium behind young British driver Lando Norris.
