Iron Lynx and Lamborghini Squadra Corse have recently publicised their plans for a widespread partnership for 2023 and beyond.
This includes entries in the World Endurance Championship and IMSA Sportscar Championship for 2024, using Lamborghini’s yet-to-be-revealed LMDh. This prototype is going to be powered by a hybridised twin-turbo V8 while using a chassis from Ligier Automotive, and it will likely feature Lamborghini’s distinctive styling characteristics as well as the triangular headlights displayed in this announcement’s press release.
This partnership extends far beyond just LMDh however, as the entire Iron Lynx and Iron Dames Ferrari GT3 fleet will be swapped out for Lamborghini machinery from next season onwards. According to dailysportscar.com, their GTE efforts will move to Porsche for the final year of the category’s service, calling in the aid of Proton Competition and their extensive experience with this car.
The LMDh programme is largely a continuation of the successful Prema LMP2 efforts which won the ELMS championship in its debut year on top of a strong season in the WEC. These cars are operated in a cooperation between Prema Powerteam and Iron Lynx, and Prema will continue to be part of this effort into the Hypercar era through their brand new engineering division which is being set up in preparation for this new challenge with ambitions for more in the future.
