Round one of the IMSA championship begins at Daytona for the iconic 24-Hour endurance race. Featuring many iconic names and faces from a large variety of different motorsport paddocks, like Formula One, IndyCar, Formula E and the GT Racing world - the iconic 24 Hours of Daytona is a tough, strategic battle to the end.


From Formula One, in the GTP class there are: Felipe Nasr (No.7 Porsche), Will Stevens (No.10 Cadillac), Brendon Hartley (No.10 Cadillac), Kevin Magnussen (No.24 BMW), Jack Aitken (No.31 Cadillac), Kamui Kobayashi (No.40 Cadillac), Romain Grosjean (No.63 Lamborghini), Daniil Kvyat (No.63 Lamborghini), Pascal Wehrlein (No.85 Porsche), Gianmaria Bruni (No.85 Porsche).

18:19 - The Porsche's BATTLE AT THE FRONT, going side-by side for almost a lap, No.7 Porsche ahead


18:17 - No.18 Era Motorsport LMP2 leader has spun at Turn 1 after potential contact with the No.52 PR1 Mathiasen Motorpsports car, as the No.8 Tower Motorsport car of Bourdais is just behind.


18:15 - Alex Sims in the No.3 Corvette hounds the No.65 Ford Mustang through sector 1, the No.1 BMW finally overtakes Sims, before Sims comes back at him in Turn 9the top 3 separated by half a second.


18:13 - The No.60 Acura is fighting the leading Porsche's, the top 3 separated by 1 second with 30 minutes to go.


18:11 - The No.65 Ford Mustang leads the GTD Pro class by 2 seconds, Alex Sims behind in the No.3 Corvette


18:08 - The No.77 AO Racing GTD Pro has sustained front end damage and sinks back through the field.


18:08 - The No.22 United Autosports car of Di Resta was given a penalty earlier on for contact


18:06 - The No.24 BMW comes into the pits to repair their damage, they are likely out of the fight.


18:06 - The GTD Pro leaders go 3-wide into Turn 9 as bodywork sprays the track


18:04 - The No.24 BMW has been overtaken by the No.7 Porsche for 2nd place, smoke pouring out from the left front due to bodywork damage

17:22 - The No.7 Porsche is only half a second ahead of the sister No.6 Porsche, as the pair approach lapped traffic.


17:19 - The No.99 AO Racing LMP2 leader has come in for a pit stop, but it's slow! the engine has been turned off for the No.99 AO Racing LMP2, Bourdais leads LMP2 aboard the No.8 Tower Motorsport car


17:17 - The No.1 BMW and No.65 Ford Mustang are duelling all through the first sector, the BMW just about keeps the lead of GTD Pro


17:16 - The stewards have said that the penalty has been served for the No.6 Porsche, who is still ahead of the No.24 BMW in 2nd place.


17:12 - The No.6 Porsche has been ordered to give back 2nd place to the No.24 BMW for a shortcut at Turn 9


17:09 - The GTP leaders are now coming through the traffic, as the Porsche No.6 comes through on the No.24 BMW at turn 8


17:05 - The top 3 in GTD Pro are all within one second of one another, the No.1 BMW currently leads the way from the No.65 Ford Mustang


17:02 - The No.7 Porsche of Nasr has extended their lead slightly, meanwhile the No.6 Porsche closes onto the back of the No.24 BMW


16:57 - The No.7 Porsche holds the lead, as the No.24 BMW and No.6 Porsche close in, both less than a second behind


16:55 - The No.7 Porsche makes a great restart, as the No.24 BMW catches and passes the Porsche at Turn 1 on the following lap, the BMW put two wheels on the grass on the exit of Turn 1 as the Porsche re-takes the lead

16:42 - GTD traffic now comes in for their pit stops, multiple close calls, leader updates by class to follow


16:41 - The No.6 Porsche has a problem in the pit lane with their rear bodywork, they will now come out a long way behind the leader under the FCY.


16:39 - GTP Pit lane is open, as the No.6 Porsche Penske and the No.24 BMW both come into the pits


16:34 - The No.99 AO Racing "Spike" car will now take the lead of LMP2

16:31 - The LMP2 race leading No.88 AF Corse car has stopped at the side of the track


16:28 - Nick Tandy has come into the pits, bringing the No.7 Porsche in for fresh tyres. They will hope to do the undercut on the sister No.6 Porsche, who were just 3 seconds ahead.


16:27 - The No.4 Corvette in GTD Pro, running in 2nd place, has been given a black flag for rear-end damage, they are currently in the pits for a mandatory pit stop.


16:25 - No.85 Porsche has been given a black flag for tyre pressures, they were running in 5th place in GTP but willl now have to come into the pits.


16:24 - The No.88 AF Corse of Vaxiviere leads in LMP2 by half a minute. All of the other classes have a lead gap of just a few seconds or less.


16:19 - The No.7 Porsche cut across the bus stop chicane, without going down the escape road. A warning has been issued from the stewards.


16:14 - The No.6 Porsche now takes the lead after going up the inside of the No.7 Porsche at the tri-oval before Turn 1.


16:13 - The two Porsche's now are fighting one another, and the lapped traffic. Meanwhile, Philipp Eng in the No.24 BMW has brought the gap down from 25 seconds, to 15 seconds to the Porsche's ahead.


16:10 - The gap between the two Porsche's is now down to less than a second, the No.6 Porsche now closing onto the rear of the No.7.


16:07 - No.6 Porsche of Kevin Estre is bringing the gap to the leading No.7 Porsche of Nick Tandy, the gap down to just over one second.


16:05 - The No.10 Cadilac of Will Stevens, running in 5th place, has just gone airborne briefly at Turn 9 after running over a sausage kerb.


15:56 - Intrerestingly the Corvette is being held up by the BMWs teammate who is laps down, race control have now intervened and given the lapped car a drive through for blocking after contact, and damage for the Corvette


15:50 - Battle for the lead in GTD rages on between the No.4 and No.1


15:45 - Pitstop Time again for the GTPs, the No.7 once again a few laps offset to the other cars

15:22 - Change for the lead in GTD Pro, the No.4 Corvette getting past the No.1 BMW



15:17 - In GTD the No.57 Mercedes, who have been constantly been put backwards in the order through mechanical issues and penalties, now sit third in class after a pit stop, a strong showing from the team there



15:12 - A battle raging now in GTD Pro between the No.77 and No.64 for fifth place, Porsche vs Ford



15:06 - The No.60 now leads, but owes a stop the rest of the GTP order remains the same after their stops. A lap later the Acura pits




15:02 - No.99 leading LMP2 is given a drive through penalty for a tyre pressure infringment, both the leading Porsche and BMW also come into the pits



14:56 - Side by side between the No.24 and No.6 , Porsche comes out on top in the infield section



14:51 - mathieu Jaminet reinstates the Porsche 1-2 before the leading No.7 Porsche comes into the pits, they are slightly offset to the two chasing cars by roughly 20% energy. Before the stop the 7 lead by 13 seconds

14:31 - The gaps between those GTDs have grown a bit, 2.1 seconds between the BMW and Corvette, and then the Ford is now battling with the No.69 Mercedes a further 6 seconds back



14:25 - The Corvette pits now, and leaves the BMW and Ford to battle for the lead for a lap, before they pit together and come out with the Corvette in between them again



14:19 - There is also a battle for the lead in GTD Pro, the No.1 BMW, NO.4 Corvette and No.65 Ford all covered by one second, as the No.93 Acura has an off narrowly avoiding the barrier



14:16 - So out of the pit stops Magnussen leads in the BMW, but the No.7 of Laurens Vanthoor reovertakes him, so it is now Porsche, BMW, Porsche



14:10 - Close moment between the Acura GTP and an LMP2 car, the LMP2 being forced onto the grass as the Acura puts another lap on it



14:05 - So the leaders are coming in for their pit stops now, the No.7 Porsche has been in and is now running again, the No.24 leads from the No.6, they both owe us stops



13:58 - Magnussen in the No.24 BMW has closed the gap to the leader, now to under 2 seconds.


13:52 - Kevin Magnussen sets the fastest lap of the race, and closes the gap to the No.7 Porsche of Tandy. The lap time was: 1:35.977.


13:51 - Maxime Martin, who makes his debut with Mercedes AMG, has put the No.69 Mercedes up into 4th place in GTD Pro


13:48 - Drama in the LMP2 class, the No.88 AF Corse of Vaxiviere is challenging the No.99 AO Racing car of Dane Cameron for the lead.


13:46 - Magnussen in the No.24 BMW is attacking the No.6 Porsche Penske for 2nd place, overtaking Matt Campbell at Turn 9 for second position.

13:41 - The No.60 Acura of Scott Dixon served a Drive-Through penalty earlier on, they are around 50 seconds down on the leaders.


13:39 - No.10 Cadillac - DRIVE-THROUGH Penalty for contact with the No.25 BMW.


13:39 - Felipe Massa is up to 5th place in the No.74 Riley LMP2 car, as the leaders duel at the front.


13:37 - Kevin Magnussen is running in 3rd place for the No.24 BMW team, just a few seconds down on the leading Porsche's


13:34 - The No.25 BMW has been spun around at the first corner at the restart.

13:34 - The No.04 Crowdstrike by APR car has rejoined the race after bringing out the initial FCY about 30 minutes ago.


13:32 - With just over 5 hours remaining, we are under a FCY for a GTD pileup crash earlier on.


13:23 - The No.78 Lamborghini GTD car driven by Franck Perera has sustained a large amount of damage, as has the No.80 Mercedes.

13:20 - Multiple GTD cars are now in the barriers at Turn 1, the yellow flag has been brought out once again.

13:13 - Cars are now doing brake changes, many of the GTD cars doing brake changes which wil cost them more time than a regular pit stop.


13:11 - GTD cars are now coming into the pits, major track position changes for the GTD Pro class.


13:09 - Most cars have come into the pits for a brief top-up on fuel, many GTP cars have come in


13:08 - With the FCY period active, the pit lane is now open for the GTP cars.

13:01 - Colton Herta has crashed at Turn 6, the No.04 Crowdstrike by APR car now falls well out of contention with heavy rear end damage. Debris all over the circuit.


12:59 - The leaders in LMP2 are now battling, the No.8 Tower Motorsports car takes the lead of LMP2 from the No.99 AO Racing crew, with Dane Cameron currently at the wheel of the No.99.


12:56 - Kevin Magnussen is back behind the wheel of the No.24 BMW, now only 10 seconds down on the No.6 Porsche Penske car. K-Mag runs in 3rd place for the BMW squad.


12:55 - The No.6 Porsche Penske locked up in Turn 1 and was forced to do a 180 degree flickspin, losing a lot of time as the sister No.7 Porsche leads.


12:53 - The No.6 and No.7 Porsche's have both come into the pits, the pair now separated by around 10 seconds, the No.7 Porsche is our net race leader.


12:50 - For any Americans waking up, here is a brief update on some of the IndyCar drivers taking part in the 24 Hours of Daytona:

Scott Dixon is currently driving the No.60 Acura, in 4th place in the GTP class.

Kyle Kirkwood's No.14 Vasser Sullivan GTD Pro car is running 11th in class.

Callum Ilott's No.73 Pratt Miller Motorsport LMP2 car has been forced to retire after a crash overnight.

Colton Herta's No.04 Crowdstrike by APR LMP2 car is running 3rd in class, less than 10 seconds down on the leader.

Christian Rasmussen currently leads the LMP2 class in the No.99 AO Racing car.

Scott McLaughlin's No.91 Trackhouse by TF Sport car is currently 9th in the GTD Pro class.

12:34 - With the Porsche's of the No.7 and No.6 leading the way in GTP, the next manufacturer on track is the No.24 BMW currently being driven by Phillipp Eng.


12:29 - The No.1 BMW is coming under pressure from the No.65 Ford Mustang for second place in the GTD Pro class, the pair of them a few seconds down on the leading No.77 Porsche. The No.1 BMW now pits.


12:24 - Rasmussen puts the No.99 AO Racing team ahead of the No.8 Tower Motorsports car for the lead of LMP2, crucially just before we hand out the next load of points.


12:22 - The Porsche's have gone WHEEL TO WHEEL once again - Tandy puts the No.7 Porsche ahead of Matt Campbell's No.6 Porsche on the run into Turn 1.


12:20 - Christian Rasmussen in the No.99 AO Racing LMP2 car has closed the lead gap to now under one second, taking around 2.5 seconds out of the leading No.8 Tower Motorsports car.


12:16 - The No.7 Porsche of Tandy has closed the gap to the sister No.6 Porsche of Campbell as the pair might be about to engage in another duel.


12:12 - Toby Sowery comes into the pits for the No.04 Crowdstrike by APR car, they pit from 2nd place in LMP2, as Colton Herta jumps behind the wheel.

12:08 - The Porsche's go WHEEL-TO-WHEEL in the first sector, Matt Campbell overtakes Nick Tandy to put the No.6 Porsche Penske back into the net race lead.


12:06 - The No.7 Porsche of Nick Tandy has taken the net lead of the race, with the sister No.6 Porsche just half a second behind, the leading No.60 Acura is due to pit.


12:01 - The No.6 Porsche Penske car comes into the pits, they will be looking to beat their sister No.7 Porsche driven by Felipe Nasr out of the pits, to maintain their lead.


11:52 - Some of the GTD runners start to light up the timing screens once again, as the track temperature increases the times will drop in this 'golden hour'


11:48 - The gap out front between the two Porsches has stayed around three seconds, but the gap to the BMW behind is now 50 seconds, pure domination from Porsche in these early hours of the morning

11:26 - The two Porsches battling now, Nasr got the jump out of the pits but Estre in the No.6 just blows back past him


11:19 - Felix Rosenqvist will be delighted to get rid of that broken nose as he takes his repairs during the scheduled pit stop, the No.60 Acura should be back up to pace now


11:16 - As the rest of the leaders come in, there is a rare mistake from Kevin Estre in the No.6 as he misses the Le Mans chicane and has to take to the escape road


11:13 - Leaders begin to pit now, the No.6 is the first one in, the rest should follow in a lap or two


11:03 - Drivers all settled in to their stints at the moment, out front the No.6 has a steady 5 second lead from the sister No.7, still a further 30 seconds to BMW


10:52 - No.24 BMW of Dries Vanthoor has finally caught and passed the limping Acura, the BMW driver will look to chase after the Porsche pairing 30 seconds up the road


10:47 - No.34 Ferrari is going slowly around the oval section of the track, driver looks to be limping back to the pits

10:38 - Still no sign of a pitstop to repair the damaged Acura. Out front Kevin Estre in the No.6 has checked out, now with a 5 second lead over the sister Porsche


10:32 - Seems to be substantial damage for the Acura, now 30 seconds off the lead with the no.24 BMW of Dries Vanthoor closing quickly


10:30 - The rest of the leaders come in now and are back out, as the No.6 and No.7 battle with the No.93 Acura, who are multiple laps down. The No.60 now looks to have damage


10:23 - Despite the best efforts from the sister Acura to slow the Porsche pairing down, the gaps have remained pretty static. The No.6 now pits, pitstops could shuffle the order now


10:14 - The No.60 Aura of Tom Blomqvist is back on the tail of the pair of Porsches, who have stayed in formation, gap now at roughly a second and a half


10:05 - The lead gap is now roughly half a second between the two Porsches, but Vanthoor doesn't look to be shaping up for a move, could team orders be in play?


10:00 - Three way fight for second in GTD Pro between Nos 1, 4 and 65


09:52 - Battle for the lead in LMP2 as well, gap hovering just around a second between No.04 driven by Jakobsen and the No.8 driven by Bourdais

20:18 - No.65 Ford Mustang of Vervisch leads the GTD Pro class, with Dan Harper in the No.48 BMW just a couple of tenths behind, in the slipstream.


20:17 - The No.24 BMW leads the race overall and for the GTP class, Vanthoor is over 25 seconds ahead of Jack Aitken's No.31 Cadillac.


20:15 - GTP's biggest mover, is the No.5 Porsche of Neel Jani and the No.25 BMW of Sheldon van der Linde both with 6 overtakes so far at the front of the field.

20:07 - No.93 Acura is in trouble, the car ran wide at Turn 6 and has lost multiple places. Aitken in the No.31 Cadillac now inherits 2nd place in GTP, as Felipe Nasr in the No.7 Porsche takes 3rd.

20:04 - Nasr in the No.7 Porsche overtakes Blomqvist in the No.60 Acura for 4th place down at Turn 9, Blomqvist had to lift off the throttle down at the back straight.

19:37 - Eric Skeer in the GTD leading No.120 Porsche has come into the pits, and rejoins the race ahead of Franck Perera in the No.78 Lamborghini.


19:36 - GTD Pro leaders and the rest of the field now come into the pits, the Top 5 were separated by just one second, so outlaps and in-laps will be crucial.


19:35 - Fred Vervisch in the No.65 Ford Mustang currently sits in 4th in GTD Pro but has closed right up to the back of the Top 3.


19:33 - No.9 Lamborghini of Caldarelli still leads the GTD Pro field, with Maro Engel now making his way into 2nd, aboard the No.75 Mercedes crew, as Harper in the No.48 BMW slips behind by one place to the Mercedes, challenging the fellow German manufacturer all the way down the front straight, to no avail.


19:31 - Tom Blomqvist in the No.60 Acura now pits after taking a temporary lead of the race, the No.24 BMW surges back to the front of the field as the rest of the GTP class come into the pits.


19:28 - Vanthoor in the No.24 BMW pits for the first time, recharging their energy, as Yelloly also pits the No.93 Acura as well.


19:26 - Franck Perera in the No.78 Lamborghini has closed the gap to Eric Skeer in the No.120 Porsche, the pair battling for the lead in the GTD class.


19:23 - Caldarelli in the No.9 Lamborghini still leads the GTD Pro class, but is coming under heavy pressure from Dan Harper in the No.48 BMW, who is also on his IMSA debut.


19:21 - No.8 Tower Motorsports car has been given a penalty for speeding in the pitlane by just 1 kilometre.


19:19 - Nose change for the LMP2 leaders, the No.99 AO Racing car, Spike the Dragon. The No.52 PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports car now reclaims the lead of LMP2.


19:17 - The No.24 BMW leading in the GTP class and overall has now extended the lead over the closest car, to over 10 seconds. A strong lead and strong pace being set by Dries Vanthoor.


19:15 - Nasr in the No.7 Porsche defends his position, diving back up the inside of Neel Jani in the No.5 Porsche at Turn 9.


19:11 - No.60 Acura of Blomqvist has now overtaken the No.7 Porsche of Nasr for 4th position, the pair separated by less than a second as Nasr tries desperately to close the gap.


19:09 - Yelloly in the No.93 Acura now closes the gap to the leading No.24 BMW by a couple of seconds as lapped traffic is being found slightly awkwardly for our race leader in GTP. Hyett in the No.99 AO Racing car has opened the lead to 18 seconds in LMP2.


19:04 - Vanthoor now leads Yelloly by well over 7 seconds, with Aitken a further few seconds behind. The BMW has made an exceptional start.


19:02 - The GTD Pro class leaders are separated by less than half a second, slipstreaming one another as the GTP cars and LMP2 cars come to lap them.


19:01 - The No.52 leading car of Ben Keating has gone off and loses the lead of LMP2, and has now gone off the circuit once again at the same corner, Turn 5's difficult right-hand corner. Hyett leads LMP2 for the No.99 AO Racing car.


18:57 - The gaps in each class are now starting to open up between first and second place. Vanthoor has it to over 5 seconds now to Yelloly behind, leading in the No.24 BMW as Keating leads for the No.52 PR1 Mathiasen car in the LMP2 class. Andrea Caldarelli leads in the No.9 Lamborghini in the GTD Pro class, and Eric Skeer leads the GTD class in the No.120 Porsche.


18:55 - Yelloly now responds, keeping the gap within five seconds as the first 15 minutes now pass us by.

18:45 - The leading GTP No.24 BMW of Vanthoor has pulled out a 1-second lead to Yelloly behind in the No.93 Acura, with Aitken and Nasr trailing in the Cadillac and Porsche just behind.


18:44 - Dan Harper takes the lead of GTD Pro inside the No.48 BMW, pulling away from Rockenfeller in the No.64 Ford Mustang.
