LIVE: Chinese Grand Prix Sprint Race Updates

Welcome to Shanghai International Circuit where the first sprint race of the 2025 season takes place. Lights go out at 11.00 track time for a 19-lap race. Lewis Hamilton leads.


03:01: The drivers are off on their formation lap! Most drivers are on medium tyres.


03:04: Lights go off for the Chinese Sprint where Hamilton gets off well and maintains a good. Norris drops a few places after locking up, and Leclerc loses a place to George Russell.


03:06: DRS enabled!


03:08: Carlos Sainz overtakes Pierre Gasly.


03:12: Liam Lawson overtakes Jack Doohan but makes contact with him in the process - Race Control has noted him for a collision.


03:14: Lawson cleared by Race Control.


03:22: Carlos Sainz leading the DRS train in 13th place ahead of Isack Hadjar and Liam Lawson. He has been passed by both drivers and told to box for new tyres.


03:25: Piastri tries to make a move past Verstappen with the help of DRS, however, he is unsuccessful.


03:26: Verstappen comes on the radio to say that his tyres are struggling.


03:28: Piastri finally overtakes Verstappen on lap 15!


03:32: Norris finally makes his way past Lance Stroll.


03:33 Battle going on between Leclerc and Russell will Leclerc overtake the Mercedes to finish fourth?


03:34: Leclerc falls back and is unable to overtake Russell.


03:35: Lewis Hamilton wins the sprint for Ferrari for the first time! He is followed by Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen.


03:36: Jack Doohan makes contact with Gabriel Bortoleto; he finishes the race last.
