Luke Browning promoted to Formula 2 with ART Grand Prix

Williams Academy driver Luke Browning steps up to Formula 2 with ART Grand Prix, joining the team alongside Victor Martins for the remainder of the 2024 season.

This announcement follows Zak O’Sullivan’s announcement earlier this week, that the Briton is now unable to complete the final three races in 2024 due to a lack of funding.

Although O’Sullivan will remain part of the Williams Driver Academy, the British driver will not return to Formula 2 in 2024 — allowing fellow Williams junior Luke Browning to step up to F2 in his place.

Browning joins last year’s team champions ART Grand Prix following his third-place finish in FIA Formula 3 this year, claiming two race victories and amassing 128 points across the season thanks to his impressive consistency.

Thanks to his strong performance throughout the season, Browning was also one of seven drivers in contention for the championship going into the finale at Monza, ending the season just 25 points short of championship leader Leonardo Fornaroli.

As the winner of both the Aston Martin Autosport BRDC Award 2022 and last year’s Macau Grand Prix, Browning already has a wide variety of accolades and experience across various series- and is set to make Formula 2 his latest.

The British driver will take to the track for the first time in Formula 2 alongside fellow debutants Gabriele Minì — driving for PREMA in place of Oliver Bearman this weekend — and Christian Mansell, who stepped up to Formula 2 with Trident for the final three races of the season, replacing the outgoing Roman Stanek.
