With 2024 Formula E preseason testing right around the corner, Maserati took the cover off their Tipo Folgore — referring to Maserati’s all-electric range of automobiles.

The all-electric race car’s paint job resembles last year’s blue stunner, but features hints of copper throughout, giving the car both an artistic and slightly flashy appearance.

In addition to being aesthetically pleasing, the Trident’s colour scheme features a striking resemblance to the past, the Italian manufacturer’s iconic blue colour scheme taking centrestage, while it incorporates a streak of copper detailing — the Folgore, Italian for lightning, pointing to the future of the brand, which lies in electric cars.

The Rame Folgore (Copper Glance) is set to be the brand's characteristic for the next generation of electric cars from the Maserati stable, as they look set to incorporate an all-electric line-up of automobiles by 2030.

The car will hit the track in Valencia, Spain, this week, as Maserati’s Season Nine star, Maximilian Guenther, continues to drive the team to a competitive standing.

However, Guenther will welcome a new teammate for the tenth ABB FIA Formula E World Champion season. Former Formula 2 racing driver Jehan Daruvala joins the Maserati team for the upcoming season, coming off the back of a seventh place in the 2022 Formula 2 season, and currently sits 12th in the 2023 season, driving for 2022 champions MP Motorsport.

Maserati will embark on their sophomore season in the series, as they look to kick on from a fruitful debut season, which yielded four podiums for Max Guenther at Berlin, twice at Jakarta, and later at Rome.

Guenther's starring Jakarta weekend also brought a special victory for the Tridents — their first victory in single-seaters since 1957, a long and rewarding wait indeed. In addition, Gunther also took two pole positions at Jakarta, and accumulated 101 points across the season, enough for seventh in the standings, a welcome return to the series.

Pre-season testing gets underway on Tuesday, October 24, and will offer both drivers to try out the new car design on track. Friday’s session will also allow the public to sneak a peek at the copper finishes, with the grandstands open to spectators for just €5.

Maserati will be expecting their new driver line-up, coupled with the power of the Tipo Folgore, helps them rise up the standings, and make the step up from occasional podium sitters to potential contenders for race wins in 2023.
