As confirmed on August 27th, the NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series' will travel to the Autódromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City in 2025.

The Xfinity race will take place on June 14th, 2025, followed by the Cup race one day later on the 15th. Xfinity will be broadcasted on CW whilst Cup will be on Amazon Prime Video.

For the first time in the modern-era, the Cup Series will have an international points-paying race. The last times the Cup Series travelled internationally for a points race were in 1952 and 1958 in Canada. There have also been other exhibition races in the modern-era, such as at Motegi in Japan from 1996 to 1998 and at Calder Park in Australia in 1988.

However, this event isn't new to the Xfinity Series, as they ran here from 2005 to 2008. That race featured three winners from the current Cup field: Martin Truex, Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch.

This is not an unprecedented move, as NASCAR has also hosted the NASCAR Mexico Series since 2004 - notably producing the likes of Daniel Suarez, who sits 11th in the 2024 standings.

NASCAR will partner with OCESA to promote the race, the same company that promotes the Formula 1 Grand Prix.
