It has been revealed by the silver arrows that we can expect to see ex-Haas driver Romain Grosjean at the French Grand Prix. The French Grand Prix is taking place from the 27th of june to the 29th, Romain will be testing Lewis Hamilton’s title-winning 2019 car.

The great news comes in light of the promise Toto Wolff made to the Frenchman when he was in the hospital following the horrific crash during last year’s race in Bahrain.
Gorsjean is now racing in the IndyCar series and this will be the first time he drives a Formula One car since the accident. Coincidentally, the day we see him test the car at Le Castellet marks seven months since the mishap.
“I am so excited to jump back in an F1 car!” Romian was quoted saying following the completion of a session in the simulators and a seat fit at the Mercedes factory in Brackley.
He expressed how grateful he was to the team and Toto Wolff, for giving him this opportunity. Grosjean said that reading the invitation and statement Toto had made to the media cheered him up quite a lot.
“F1 didn’t get the chance to race in France during 2020 because of Covid, so driving a Mercedes at the French Grand Prix in 2021 and then completing a test at the Circuit Paul Ricard, my home track, will be so special. I can’t wait for the day to arrive.” He concluded.
Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff too expressed his excitement to watch Romain in an F1 car again.
“We are very happy to support Romain with this special opportunity, The idea first came when it looked like Romain would be ending his active career in Formula One, and we didn’t want his accident to be his last moment in an F1 car.”
“He enjoyed a long and successful F1 career and we wanted to make sure that his final memories would be at the wheel of a championship-winning car. I’m excited to see what Romain’s feedback on the W10 is.”
“Romain’s accident reminds us of the dangers these guys face each time they climb into the cockpit but it’s also a testament to the incredible steps this sport has taken to improve safety over the years. I know the F1 community will celebrate seeing Romain back on track.”
Lewis Hamilton too, is stoked to see Romain get back into an F1 cockpit. He started off by speaking about how everyone was worried and praying for the Frenchman to be fine again and seeing him walk away from the vicinity and recover so well was a relief.
On a happier note, the seven-time world champion is looking forward to see Romain in France and welcoming him to the team, provided Romain looks after his W10.
