It has been reported that Singapore will not hold a Grand Prix this year and that Formula 1 is assessing replacement options.
F1 and Singapore authorities agreed that it will not be possible to hold the event because of immigration restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Canada and Turkey have fallen victim to the pandemic too, however Turkey is understood to be in consideration to replace Singapore.
Turkey was supposed to replace Canada but was subsequently called off after an increase in cases and being put on the UK’s red list.
Other options include China and a double header at the Circuit of the America in America. The first race would likely take place 15-17 October with the second race, the usual USA Grand Prix, following up a week later on 22-24 October.
F1 have declined to comment specifically on this however a spokesperson has said this “We continue to work with all promoters during this fluid time and have plenty of options to adapt if needed.”
