Sting Ray Robb has signed with Juncos Hollinger Racing for 2025, the team announced today. The Idaho native joins the team from AJ Foyt Racing, where he had driven the No. 41 car in 2024.
Agustin Canapino departed the team mid-season in 2024 and was temporarily replaced by Conor Daly. Robb has been confirmed as the first driver for the team in 2025, with no clarity on the future of Romain Grosjean.
“To be sought out by leaders like Ricardo Juncos and Brad Hollinger and a team as driven as JHR means the world to me,” said Robb. “We share a vision for what we can achieve together, and I’m honoured to contribute to JHR’s continued growth, as I also grow as their driver. Excited to see what we accomplish together with our ambition and the ‘power of possibility’.”
2025 will be SRobb's third season in IndyCar and he has driven for as many teams in that period. He made his debut with Dale Coyne Racing in 2023, but left at the end of the year after an underwhelming season.
With new sponsorship behind him, Robb joined AJ Foyt Racing in 2024 and his fortunes improved slightly, even managing a career-best ninth place in Gateway. He also managed to lead laps at the Indy 500, garnering respect from the paddock.
He made headlines in 2024 too, though not for positive reasons. He had a massive crash at Iowa, where he made contact with the rear of Alexander Rossi's McLaren on the final lap and flipped through the air, subsequently causing a multi-car pileup. The accident was measured with 109Gs of force. Robb was stretchered away but avoided serious injury.
Juncos Hollinger Racing has endured some turbulence as of late, having to handle controversy multiple times throughout 2023 and '24 as a cohort of their fans threatened other drivers who may have caused accidents with their team.
Canapino's mid-season departure also posed a challenge for the team, though Daly was a perfect choice to fill in, even netting the team's first-ever IndyCar podium at Milwaukee. With Robb, the team hopes to establish some stability within the team.
“Sting Ray is an exciting talent, and we’ve had the privilege of seeing his growth as a driver first-hand during our championship run in Indy Pro,” said co-owner Ricardo Juncos. “This is more than a reunion; it’s a chance to pick up right where we left off and truly aim for the top of this series.
“We’re committed to making this season a breakout year for Sting Ray, as well as an extraordinary year for JHR as we continue to elevate our presence in IndyCar.”
Robb is, as of now, the only driver confirmed for Juncos Hollinger in 2025. Their other driver, Romain Grosjean, has recently expressed doubts over his place on the IndyCar grid in 2025, citing a lack of funding. It remains to be seen whether the Swiss-born Frenchman joins Robb at the team next year, or they opt for a driver with some more money behind them.
“We are delighted to welcome Sting Ray to the team,” said co-owner Brad Hollinger. “Sting Ray has great talent, and we have full confidence that his skills and determination will help our success this season. This partnership represents an exciting evolution for JHR, and we are eager to see what we can achieve together in the year ahead.”
