Before we jump into the F1 75 livery launch on 18th February 2025, let’s recap the liveries of the 2024 Formula One season that stood out on the grid.

It was a whirlwind year for both drivers and teams, where we saw underdogs rise while greats toppled down the grid.

Adding to the drama each week were each teams’ unique liveries for their cars. Some designs were fan favourites while others stirred up quite the chatter.

Without further ado, let’s break down ten liveries that caught our eye from the 2024 F1 season.

10. Alpine x Deadpool & Wolverine

Alpine rose from the ashes this season — from a very disappointing beginning half to clinching sixth in the Constructors’ Championship. Yet one thing that stayed consistent for Alpine was nailing their special liveries.

At the Belgian Grand Prix they debuted a Deadpool & Wolverine livery, perfectly timed right before the movie hit theaters. Ryan Reynolds, the actor behind Deadpool, is also a key investor in Alpine making this the prime collaboration.

The car featured a red nose with the Deadpool logo at the tip and yellow slashes towards the rear, making it a fan favourite.

9. RB’s Depressing Denim

RB partnered with their sponsor Hugo to create a one-off ‘denim’ livery for the Singapore Grand Prix. The car was uniquely covered in a blue distressed denim print with a zipper wrapping around the car.

The livery originally went over well with fans but was quickly soured by the distasteful cut after the final race of Daniel Ricciardo.

8. Sauber in Las Vegas

Sauber finished the season in last place with only four points but their spirits always remained strong.

They made a visual showcase of that unwavering spirit with their Las Vegas Grand Prix livery. The usual green and black car was enhanced with green flames dancing across it.

This livery was well loved by spectators on track and was also a hit on social media.

7. McLaren’s Chrome comes back

Ahead of the Americas triple header, McLaren brought back their fan-favourite chrome livery.

McLaren’s partner, Google Chrome, helped bring this collaboration back after the success of Silverstone in 2023.

The full-papaya car was doused in a large brush of chrome plus some accent pieces, making the cars glint on track under the Texan sun.

6. The Colapinto Effect

The arrival of Franco Colapinto in the F1 Paddock was electrifying. Likeable and talented, he immediately achieved widespread popularity amongst both fans and teams.

A monarch for Argentine fans, he brought a powerful identity and sponsor to the struggling Williams F1 team. Mercado Libre, an e-commerce marketplace, teamed up with Williams for a new livery for the Mexico City Grand Prix.

The engine cover was changed to an iconic bright yellow that meshed well with the car’s usual blue. Both drivers’ race suits featured this yellow with the Mercado Libre logo, while Colapinto also starred in a video advertisement for the brand.

5. Alpink

Alpine’s standard livery had predominantly blue and black, with the smallest amounts of pink on it. It’s no shock that fans want more colour on the grid, and if numerous cars sport the same monochrome carbon fibre, it makes the track dull. Fans jump at any opportunity for a new shade on the grid, and Alpine finally delivered.

For the Las Vegas Grand Prix, the team took that hint of pink and splashed it all over the car, bringing the livery to life under the neon lights.

Right from the front wing to the rear, the car was decked in a bright fuchsia hue and was adored by fans. Alpine carried this livery through to the end of the season.

  1. RB’s Glitter gamble

As a new teammate pairing for the remainder of 2024 season began, Visa Cash App RB came with a new livery to match it.

Full of glitz and glam, the livery came with the hope to have successful performances that could overshadow their disappointing past.

The glitter livery was debuted for the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Covered in hues of blue and green with sparkle decals embedded into the design that circulated the car, this livery was made with the team’s title sponsor Visa Cash App, as they had launched a new Visa Glitter Card.

3. Ferrari’s bogus blue

Ferrari fans were left disappointed at the Miami Grand Prix as the overhyped blue livery was revealed. Major marketing build up took place leading up to the Miami race which included a ‘blue take over’ of Ferrari’s socials, an entire blue merch line and blue-themed photoshoots with their drivers.

Yet when the car hit the track, fans were left questioning where the blue was. Many were hoping to see a full baby-blue Ferrari flying through the Miami circuit.

The accents of blue and a predominately still red car were not what fans wanted or expected after the misleading social campaigns, making this a memorable livery for not the right reasons.

2. The Red Bull F1 special livery that never was in 2024

By mid season, Red Bull were under massive pressure to maintain the Constructors’ and the Drivers’ Championship. This led them to take drastic measures each weekend as they scrambled to stay in the running.

The team needed to cut weight anywhere they could and since they were set on keeping Sergio Pérez, it needed to come from the car.

REBL CUSTMS hosted a competition that gave fans the opportunity to design liveries for Red Bull to use at three races during the year. However, the winners’ designs were cut ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix and there were no further special liveries for the entire season.

The added paint from these liveries were not a viable risk to take as Lando Norris continued to catch up to Max Verstappen, along with McLaren and Ferrari pouncing on that first and second place in the Constructors’ title.

1. Senna Sempre: A throwback to F1's epochal Brazilian in 2024

The 30th anniversary of the tragic passing of McLaren legend Ayrton Senna saw many teams pay homage to the driver in different ways throughout the season. McLaren — the home of Senna’s three Drivers’ Championships — went all out in dedication to his memory.

For the Monaco Grand Prix, the circuit where Senna holds the record for the most victories, they ditched the papaya and debuted a livery coloured with yellow, green and blue.

The front wing had ‘Senna’ printed in blue on both sides along with the Brazilian’s logo on the halo and nose box of the car. The tribute to Senna with his iconic colors didn't just stop at the livery — both drivers had new suits made to match.

McLaren driver Lando Norris swapped his fluorescent green helmet with black swirls for a beautiful chrome one with a blend of yellow, green and blue swirls. He also replaced his own name amongst the swirls with ‘Senna.’

The other half of the papaya duo, Oscar Piastri, opted for a more replica style to one of Senna’s original helmet designs, matching the legend’s mainly yellow helmet with a stripe of green and blue details. Senna's logo was an additional feature on both drivers helmets.

While we had some truly eye-catching liveries in 2024, we also had some that didn’t quite meet expectations, and ended up becoming memorable in that sense as well.
