Despite multiple rain delays, Corey Heim managed to take victory in a late-running race in Las Vegas on Friday night. It was Heim’s second victory of the season and first at Las Vegas.
As it unfolded
From his first career pole, Corey Day led the way but by Lap 2, Tyler Ankrum took the lead. Ankrum kept his lead whilst Day fell to the clutches of Ty Majeski by Lap 10.
However, a mistake by Ankrum into Turn 3 allowed Day to take the lead on Lap 16. Majeski later capitalised on this to take the lead for himself two laps later.
On Lap 26, the first caution of the day came out for something that would turn out to plague the night: rain. Luckily, this initial rain subsided.
This caution brought the end to Stage 1. Majeski won the stage followed by Ankrum and Day.
Stage 1 Results:

The leaders pitted under the stage caution, but the drop of the green flag had to wait, as the red flag came out for a returning rain shower.
After a 30-minute delay, the race returned to green flag racing on Lap 36. Ben Rhodes led the way initially but was quickly swallowed up by Tyler Ankrum.
The stage remained caution-free to the end. Ankrum took victory followed by Chandler Smith and Stewart Friesen.

After the stage's end, the rain returned. This time, the rain remained in the air for over an hour-and-a-half.
Heim finally led the way on Lap 71, but Stewart Friesen found himself as the leader.
Right as Heim began to put pressure on Friesen, the first caution for cause came out. Coming out of Turn 4, Kaden Honeycutt got loose and lost control – sliding up into Tyler Ankrum in the process. Both trucks drove away from the accident but suffered big damage.
Just prior to the green flag being thrown again, the restart was pushed forward. This was for Josh Reaume’s truck coming to a halt in the pit lane.
The race restarted with 44 laps to go, and Corey Heim quickly shot out into the lead. However, Layne Riggs provided stiff competition for the TRICON driver, as he began pressuring Heim for the lead.
When Riggs took his first lead of the day, the caution came out for an accident in the back. This was for Jack Wood going for a spin in the middle of Turns 3 and 4. He suffered race-ending damage.
Riggs restarted with the lead with 34 laps to go, but Heim took the lead only two laps later.
The race ended with this green flag run. Corey Heim became the first driver this Truck Series season to win two races, and so far the only Trucks regular with multiple wins.
