Racing is in Sarah’s blood, she was born for speed. Born in Harrogate, England she started racing karts at the age of 8. She participated in the Ginetta Junior with her family’s Tockwith Motorsport in 2007 and apart from that she was also racing in the Ginetta Junior winter championship and the BRDC SoT MiniMax.

She later focused primarily on the Ginetta Junior championship where in 2008 she raced the whole season and finished in 17th place. Moore finished runner up in the Ginetta Junior winter series the same year. She remained in the Ginetta series for 2009 and went on to win the championship. She became the first ever female driver to win a mixed gender series in the UK. She was awarded the rising star status by BRDC and was nominated in BBC’s Young Sports Personality of The Year award, where she was ranked fifth.
In 2010, she and her brother changed teams but continued racing in the Ginetta Junior championship. The following year she advanced to the InterSteps Championship series, where she raced for Tockwith Motorsports. She finished the series ranked sixth. The same year she competed in 4Two Cup where she secured a win.
She contested in 4Two cup again in 2012, she also drove alongside her brother Nigel in the Donnington Park round of BritCar. She entered the Britcar Endurance championship of 2017 with Rob Baker as her teammate. The duo finished fourth in the overall sprint category and first in class.
The next year she upgraded to a Ginetta G50, racing for the family run team Tockwith Motorsports again. She and her teammate Matt Greenwood went on to win the endurance series. She continued racing this category in 2019 too with Moh Ritson. However, she was needed at the last round at W series.
2020 had been a difficult year for Sarah, not only did the W series get thrown off track but so did Sarah’s livelihood. She opened up about how her mental health suffered entering the first lockdown. She switched the race car for a delivery van while helping out with her brother’s business and training for racing.
While Sarah took up the supportive job of delivering groceries for Sainsbury’s, her income was not enough to support the expenses of racing. She is set to race in the W series for 2021 but a shortcoming she faced was not having the money to buy a race helmet.
Taking the advice of her friends she set up a Gofundme page and support from the motosport community just poured in! Within Two days, the fundraiser met its target of £3000. She thanked people who contributed and said that she felt like a weight had been lifted off her shoulders.
We wish Sarah an excellent season in 2021 and hope that the W series gives her a platform to be able to pursue her dreams without ever having to worry about financial backing.
