Coming into this race, only three points separated Justin Allgaier and Cole Custer in the championship. Despite leading the race in stage one, Allgaier’s race fell down a spiral after Austin Green and Parker Retzlaff collided and collected Allgaier in the mix. From then on, Allgaier’s race never picked back up.
Custer started the race by brushing the wall on the opening lap, causing him to fall through the field. That didn’t stop Custer from pushing through the field and taking control of the race. Custer battled at the front before ultimately taking the lead from Sheldon Creed and going on to win the championship by two points.
Creed also secured another second-place finish, making this his 13th second-place finish this season, and this secured his place in the playoffs.
