Oliver Bearman achieved his second pole position of the season in qualifying on Friday, much to the delight of the Prema driver.
The Briton had "Almost a perfect lap," adding, "[I] left a bit of time on the table but I was happy with the performance, especially because you only get two laps. You need to find the limit but obviously not go over it because you don't have any backup.
The car was perfect, so I say a huge thanks to the team. We worked really well since the test. It's good to bounce back from Monaco where we had pace but couldn't show it."
The gap between Bearman and last place in the qualifying session was a little over a second. It was tight until the very end, where the Prema driver claimed pole position over Rodin Carlin's Enzo Fittipaldi by less than a tenth.
Bearman is looking for his first win since Azerbaijan, a round in which he took pole position and won both races on offer. The Prema driver will start P10 in Saturday's reverse-grid Sprint Race.
